We are so happy to bring you this beautiful coffee from the Wote Konga washing station in Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia! This washed coffee is filled with flavours of black tea, grapefruit and stone fruit with a floral finish. It’s clean, complex, and an absolute delight to drink.

The Wote Konga washing station, located about 10 km south of Yirgacheffe town in the Konga area, is owned by Mekuria Mergia, a remarkable entrepreneur who entered the coffee industry without any family background in farming. The station benefits from a unique micro-climate, with consistent rainfall providing the perfect natural elements for outstanding coffee. But it also takes a human touch. Mekuria, known to many as “Mr. Mac,” always strives for perfection and provides constant training and development for the farmers around the station. Today, it is a structured and well-documented workplace, which is one of the reasons why the coffee maintains consistent cup quality every season.

Starting from the bottom, young Mekuria began collecting coffee from farms and selling small batches to nearby mills, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the market. His curiosity about coffee processing grew over time, leading him to establish several washing stations and dry mills across Yirgacheffe and Guji. In 2018, Mekuria founded Wete Ambela Coffee Export, enabling him to export top-quality coffees directly from his mills to buyers worldwide. Today, he owns five wet and dry mills and one farm, including the Wote Konga station, which continues to produce some of the finest Ethiopian coffees. Despite his success, Mekuria considers himself a representative of the farmers, maintaining a deep connection to their work and livelihoods.
